Students' lives: Scotland's future - Education ManifestoNUS Scotland has completed the first stage of its campaign around next year's Scottish Parliamentary elections taking place in May, and has finalised the education manifesto.
The Executive Summary briefly details the 16 key issues facing students in their education. The issues covered include, most importantly, keeping Scotland free of top-up or variable fees, but also covers wider access, a minimum student income, greater support for part-time students, a flexible student loan system and improvements in international student support.
The formal launch of the NUS Scotland Education Manifesto to Scotland's MSPs and media took place in the form of a breakfast lobby on 25 October.
This is the first and main part of the manifesto NUS Scotland will be releasing for the election in May. The other manifestos will cover other issues of importance to student life, including housing, health, employment, the environment, students in the community and transport.
NUS Scotland is developing campaigns to take the manifesto to students, which will be distributed over the coming weeks and months. This election is our chance to stamp our agenda onto Scotland's future and ensure that students' lives are given the attention they deserve in the elections. Our manifestos will help to ensure that we make the most of this opportunity.
